CELEBRATING 15 YEARS OF SERVICE & SCHOLARSHIP
The Arlington Foundation for Excellence in Education was founded in 2004 by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Xi Theta Omega Chapter to provide relevant community programs in the Arlington, TX and surrounding communities and to enhance the educational and personal development of youth and provide financial assistance to students pursuing higher education.
On September 21, 2019, we will be celebrating 15 Years of Standing out in Service and Scholarship in the Arlington Community. The event will be held in the Bluebonnet Ballroom at the University of Texas at Arlington at 6:30pm. We are excited to have The Honorable Andrew Gillum as the Keynote Speaker this year! He is the former Mayor of Tallahassee, FL and the 2018 Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate.
The Fundraiser will raise funds for our free community programs that targets nearly 500,000 households in the DFW area. These programs include the Family Expo that addresses the growing need for financial responsibility and health awareness, the YES! Summit, which is teen focused event that provides educational workshops and resources to hundreds of youth and parents, and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® HBCU Endowment.
This year’s celebration also helps to raise funds for scholarships through a Silent Auction for the youth of Tarrant County, which includes the Dr. Barbara Odom-Wesley Spirit of Achievement Scholarship that is awarded to a female high school senior; and the Honorable Elzie Odom Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship that is awarded to a male high school senior.
In partnership with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Xi Theta Omega Chapter, we will highlight and celebrate our 2019 Community Award Winners who have made significant strides through their service in the Arlington community.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available that will provide you and/or your company with an event that can help connect with your target audience, and/or heighten your organization’s image. It is about being a good corporate citizen while at the same time gaining access to people who may want to do business with your organization. Please also consider supporting our “$15 for 15” Raffle, where for every purchase of a $15 raffle ticket, you get an entry into our raffle with a number of different prize options. Proceeds from the raffle will go towards our HBCU Endowment initiative.
