About the Scholarship
Scholarship Guidelines:
This scholarship may be used at any accredited four-year College or University (Trade, Technical and Cosmetology Schools are ineligible).
Eligibility:
African-American high-school senior attending school in Tarrant County, Grand Prairie, Texas, or the surrounding area.
Raised by a grandparent or single parent
Minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
Completed online application
An Official High School transcript (Non-weighted grade point average on 4.0 scale) submitted by your high school counselor
Involvement in extracurricular and/or community activities
Application and all supporting materials are due by 11:58 pm CST, on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
If applicant becomes a finalist, a personal interview MAY BE required.
Finalist will be notified of interview the week of Monday, March 3, 2025.
Scholarship award winner will be announced at the AISD Family Expo and Resource Fair on (TBD)
Application Package - before you begin the application have the following items available to upload:
Two letters of recommendation from anyone (not related to you) who can speak to your college readiness and/or personal drive.
Proof of SAT or ACT score – Students can order their scores from the ACT/SAT testing websites. Check with your counselor because scores may already be on your official transcript.
Letter or affidavit submitted by grandparent/parent acknowledging household status and describing financial need
Completed Academic Profile signed by your school counselor CLICK HERE 2025 STUDENT PROFILE
Minimum 500 word typed essay, 1” margin, doubled spaced, 12 point - Times Roman font style that include the following:
What does a higher education means to you? How would a higher education impact your personal, intellectual, and social development?
The use of AI or ChatGPT is strictly forbidden. Essay's utilizing this format/software will be disqualified.
