About the Scholarship
Scholarship Guidelines:
This scholarship may be used at any accredited four-year College or University (Trade, Technical and Cosmetology Schools are ineligible).
Eligibility:
African-American female high school senior attending school in Tarrant County or Grand Prairie, Texas OR a college student who graduated from a Tarrant County or Grand Prairie, Texas high school
Rising Junior or Senior majoring in Journalism, Communications, Marketing and/or Business with an emphasis in Media.
Minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Involvement in community/extracurricular activities.
Completed Academic Profile signed by your school counselor: 2025 Academic Student Profile
An Official College transcript
Application and all supporting materials are due by 11:58 pm CST, on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
If applicant becomes a finalist, a personal interview MAY BE required.
Finalist will be notified of interview by Monday, March 3, 2025.
Scholarship award winner will be announced at the AISD Family Expo and Resource Fair on (TBD)
Application Package - before you begin the application have the following items available to upload:
Two letters of recommendation from: anyone (not related to you) who can speak to your academic strengths, personal qualities, career aspirations, and college readiness.
Minimum 500 word typed essay, 1” margin, double-spaced, 12 point - Times Roman font style on the topic:
Why are you pursuing a career in the media industry? How do you seek to disrupt and change diversity in the media industry whether in front of the camera or in the Board room?
The essay must be written in your voice. The use of AI or ChatGPT is strictly forbidden. Essays utilizing this format/software will be disqualified.
